The Business Savvy Singer
The Business Savvy Singer is a product of Dr. Greta Pope’s PrivateMusicStudio.net. The mission of PrivateMusicStudio.net is to increase the success rate of professional and avocational singers and musicians. Many musicians and singers do not find success in their careers due to lack of education and exposure.
In addition, the PrivateMusicStudio.net provides education and opportunities to singers from underserved communities through The Kay Davis Scholarship. This scholarship is named for Duke Ellington vocalist Kay Davis and pprovides funding for talented underserved students to study singing and music business with Dr. Greta Pope and have exposure to opportunities for upward mobility. There are currently six recipients of The Kay Davis Scholarship. These students receive private voice lessons and/or music business courses at no cost.
Dr. Pope is Chairman of the Classics Through the Ages Signature Arts Program for the Windy City (IL) Chapter of The Links Incorporated. Through this relationship, the PrivateMusicStudio.net partners with The Links Incorporated to fund special opportunities for students.
The Business Savvy Singer Podcast is an educational arm of the PrivateMusicStudio.net. Dr. Greta Pope hosts and produces weekly interviews with professional singers to get a glimpse into their lives and understand their journeys as people who are earning their living singing. Dr. Pope chats with singers from diverse backgrounds and diverse musical styles. Singers from the areas of Country, Pop, Blues, Jazz, R&B, Broadway and Classical music have been featured. Voice Artists, Audiobook Narrators, Songwriters, Classical Composers have also been part of the podcast. These conversations are extremely valuable for singers looking for guidance and encouragement.
The Business Savvy Singer Podcast has been inducted into the NATSCast Network, which is a small group of podcasts featured by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). This designation is exposing The Business Savvy Singer Podcast to more than 7000 NATS members in 35 countries.
